As part of the ongoing efforts to improve and develop existing and new features we are making some changes to how we store information about Time off.
Behind the scenes here at AlexisHR we are experimenting and testing out some features for a so called "Work week", our term for a schedule. This will be used to make powerful features connected to time and integrations to payroll providers.
To enable all the planned features connected to this we have added support for timezones and updated the way time off is stored.
New fields in AlexisHR
In Time off reports you'll now see 2 new fields:
Start date - Local time
End date - Local time
These fields tell you the dates the time off was registered for in the time zone valid for the person who took the time off.
The previous fields has also been renamed:
Start date -> Start date (UTC)
Start date -> End date (UTC)
These fields are how the leave is stored in our database with no adjustments made for timezones (meaning UTC+00).
What this means for your reports
If you want to know the real dates for when a leave is/was you should use the entities using local time. To update existing reports you just change the dates used. In most cases there will be no real difference in the report, but in cases where timezones are important this field will show you the correct information.
Coming up
Setting what time zone someone is part of via their profile, offices and setting a company default will be released soon!
